Veruschka

Veruschka, As the iconic model Veruschka 60s strutted the runway for Giles Deacon SS’11 London Fashion Week, the 71-year-old stood up to a long line of younger models. At the Madrid Fashion Week, designer Juan Duyos cast 60-something socialite Eloisa Bercero Spanish and three other models in there 60s, in his show.
International model these castings were labeled at once. Closer home, we found that quite a good model in her 40s or 50s is a crazy idea; Indian designers are also too shy to experiment with girls! Insiders say it is the “old” models, those who strutted on almost all tracks in the country for more than a decade, which make the law here.
Models Nethris Raghuraman, 34, Carol Gracias, 32, Diandra Soares, 31, are still as popular as they were 10 years ago. “It is serious groupism in the industry. The designers tend to go gaga over girls. They carry with them, party with them and develop a sense of connection that wins over their work ethic,” says regular week fashion make-up artist, Yatan Ahluwalia. But designer Gaurav Gupta begs to differ. “Not that we do not give girls a new chance. But many girls are not new to the brand, “he said with a wave of his hand.
International girls as young as 14 were identified from shopping malls, clubs, restaurants, and within months, turned into stellar models. So why not India? “The only way to ensure that the new girls a chance is valid to press for a greater sense of professionalism in this sector. People need to think of it as a business, starting with the insiders industry, “said Pankhuri Singh, Marketing Manager of Elite Model Management, India. It seems that for the moment, the anti-wrinkle cream will continue to be the best friend of the Indian models.
Not so much a life model
Model Tinu Verghese speaks about the sad truth of the universe models in India
“There are many new talented girls who continue to come in but unfortunately they are often crushed by choreographers and coordinators, replacing them with their friends and favorites. The industry is more emotionally driven than talent. Shows for the Fashion Weeks are here as if it was free! There is no competition here, anything goes. There is also a serious lack of training among the models. Anyone can become a model here as long as you can pay lip service. ”
The hottest of all?
To assess the degree of heat from the power of culture to ‘old’ models really are, we asked the choreographer Harmeet Bajaj, fashion scribe, Varun Rana, and style guru Prasad Bidapa to tell us which of them continue to make a mark and those who are not so hot over.
Noyonika Chatterjee:
Harmeet Bajaj: It does not rule the ramp at some point. Now that time has passed.
Varun Rana: She did disappear for a while, but I think she is conscious of trying to make a comeback.
Prasad Bidapa: its use for another 20 years.
Raghuraman Nethris:
Bajaj: It might not be the oldest, but certainly the oldest that still gets a regular job.
Rana: No other girl may have been able to extend its life on the ramp like her.
Bidapa: Girls like her are rare.
Diandra Soares:
Bajaj: It is not in the best shape now.
Rana: It is certainly not as popular as it once was.
Bidapa: Age may not be on his side, but she knows how to reinvent themselves, shaved head and all-inclusive!
Candice Pinto:
Bajaj: Age has caught up with her a bit.
Rana: It is not equal to the amount of work she has done 5 years ago. Age, I suppose, is one of the reasons behind it.
Bidapa: His body is still what it was 10 years old!
