MDA Telethon 2010

MDA Telethon 2010:Despite the struggle of the economy, officials with the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon said pledges from the Labor Day event this year amounted to 58,9 million dollars.
Although this amount is compared to $ 60.5 million last year and a record $ 65 million in 2008, Lewis said he was pleased with the support to facilitate research and service programs of the Association of muscular dystrophy.
“I am encouraged by the unique ability of Americans to help others in need, when they may struggle financially,” said Lewis, chairman of the national Tucson, Arizona-based MDA.
45 th annual telethon raised by the fifth consecutive year, the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas and was about 40 million viewers on 170 television stations.
Dozens of artists joined 21 1/2-hour event, including Barry Manilow, Michael Feinstein, Maureen McGovern, Charo, Carrot Top and Norm Crosby.
Telethon co-hosts include Jann Carl, Alison Sweeney and Nancy O’Dell.
“I think (58,9 million dollars) is a huge amount of rigid economy,” said Carl Associated Press. “This is something that brings tears to the eyes. It shows the heart of America. We’re very humbled and so grateful.
For the first time, a child – MDA National Goodwill Ambassador for Abbey Umali, 11, Redlands, California – opened the telethon Sunday afternoon. She performed two songs, including “Ordinary Miracle”, which drew enthusiastic responses from audiences.
Lewis said that the funds will allow MDA to continue funding research throughout the world, to find treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy and related diseases.
“People see the progress MDA does for children and adults living with muscle diseases,” he said. “I am sincerely grateful for their caring enough to brighten the future of” my children “.
Lewis, 84, ended the telethon with the traditional singing his signature song “You Never Walk Alone”.

Fed Ex Field Stadium

Fed Ex Field Stadium:FedEx Field (originally Jack Kent Cooke Stadium) is a stadium located in the unincorporated area near the Capital Beltway (I-495) in Prince George’s County, Maryland, USA, near where the old Capital Centre (later called USAir Arena). FedExField is home to the Washington Redskins football team.
FedEx Field was built as a replacement to the place of the Redskins, RFK Stadium. In 1994, Jack Kent Cooke wanted to build a new stadium on the grounds adjacent to Laurel Park Racecourse on Whiskey Bottom and Brock Bridge roads. Lack of parking and support has prompted a second choice of sites.
The stadium opened in 1997 as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, in honor of the recently deceased owner of the team and the stadium site was known as Raljon. Before the stadium was built, Wilson Farm was not. The name “Raljon” is a portmanteau of the sons of the first Jack Kent Cooke names – “Ralph” and “John”. It is noteworthy that Cook was even able to register Raljon with United States Postal Service as a legal address for the alternative 20785 zip code Landover, Maryland, where the stadium and went to some lengths requires the use of media in Raljon datelines from the stadium.
Special exit, exit 16 (Arena Drive), was built from Interstate 495, the capital Beltway.
After the team and stadium were purchased by Daniel Snyder, the names of human rights have been sold to FedEx in November 1999 by an average of 7.6 million dollars per year; FedEx Field was replaced by Robert F. Kennedy Stadium in Washington, DC, as a home about the Redskins. FedEx Field was not football season, in which the stadium failed to sell their tickets without a premium. Even if this is the biggest stadium NFL’s, the waiting list for Redskins season tickets had reached more than 30 years. Although the Redskins have never sold the stadium, the team never had the game blackout on local television, because the team does not count “premium seats at the club” when calculating the corrupt.
Over the past six years in FedEx Field, Redskins fans have set regular-season home paid attendance record. In 2005 the group drew record 716,998 fans in general. December 30, 2007, 27.6 to win against the Dallas Cowboys was the most popular game in the history of the Redskins, with 90 910 fans in the stands, to Washington clinch playoff spot.

Ashton Kutcher Cheating Rumor

A recent article in STAR Magazine claiming to have caught Ashton Kutcher cheating with a fiery young blonde has the 32-year-old actor threatening the magazine with a defamation suit. The mag, though, is standing by its article, possibly lining things up for an epic courtroom showdown. Get the full story, with pictures and video below!
Ashton Kutcher 2

Allegedly caught making out with a young woman outside of a restaurant bathroom, the actor is insisting that he’s always been faithful to his wife, 47-year-old Demi Moore. The two were married in 2005, and rumors of infidelity have been around almost as long as they have been together.

This time, a STAR reporter strongly maintains that they caught Ashton Kutcher cheating, and the magazine seems willing to put its reputation on the line. However, as it was founded as a tabloid to compete with the National Enquirer, that reputation may not be worth too much.
“Ashton had this gorgeous girl pinned against the wall, and he was totally making out with her,” the article claimed. “I was shocked to see him sucking face with a girl who obviously wasn’t Demi.”
The article makes some detailed accusations against the actor best known for playing Kelso in “That 70’s Show.” Livid, he shot back immediately via Twitter.
“STAR magazine — you don’t get to stand behind ‘freedom of the press’ when you are writing fiction. I think Star magazine calling me a “cheater” qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees.”
Showing her support, Demi commented on his tweet, saying “Excellent point my love!” Despite their age difference of 15 years, and the fact that most Hollywood marriages end in divorce, I’m going to have to see some evidence before I can call this adorable actor a cheater. For Demi’s sake, I hope the article was a fabricationmade to sell magazines

Nighthawks

Nighthawks, Former Ohio State University (Ohio State and Penitentiary) running back Maurice Clarett has apparently gotten permission to leave the Commonwealth of Ohio. (We know it is not a Commonwealth, but we’ll keep calling one because of the strange way that pisses a lot of you when we call a commonwealth Ohio.) Clarett will be working outside the UFL Omaha Nighthawks is August 29.
Clarett, the last selection in the third round of 2005 draft (Broncos), still has not offered a contract. Your training will go a long way to deciding if a shot.
Remains to be seen if the bar Clarett will be higher than it would for a player of garden-variety. Or possibly lower. If Clarett can offer visibility interest in the UFL, the Nighthawks may decide to prefer the former Buckeye, for example, Shaud Williams.
On the other hand, it is as if a runner will have to go if Clarett gets an invitation to join the team. The Nighthawks are now only two riders in the list – Williams and Ahman Green.

Hokie,What Is A Hokie:While many fans made the trip Hawkey, to see the place of the 10th Virginia Tech to take third place in the Boise State FedEx field near Washington, DC, many other fans stayed closer to home and the crowd at local restaurants to watch the game.

Faberge Jewelry

After nine decades in the dark, the mystic jewelry brand Fabergé is back in business with a stunning high-end Faberge jewelry collection.
Les Fabels de Faberge – Fire Bird Brooch

In 1872, Peter Carl Faberge took over his father’s jewelry workshop, which had been established in St. Petersburg in 1842. His technical mastery as a goldsmith put him on par with the world’s most renowned jewelers. He drew his inspiration from the art of earlier generations which he found in the well-stocked treasury of the Hermitage. As Supplier to the Imperial Court of Russia, Faberge is best known for his unique series of 50 jeweled Imperial Easter eggs dating from 1885-1916. His patrons included most of the world’s royalty and other wealthy clientele of his time.

The new House of Fabergé has the cooperation of two of Carl Peter’s great-granddaughters, and investment from a South African private equity firm. And it has just released the first high-end jewelry collection under the name of Fabergé for nearly 100 years. The aim is to reinterpret Fabergé’s work, not reproduce it.

Fabergé selected Parisian artist-jeweler Frederic Zaavy to create an initial collection of 100 items at his studio in Paris. The collection uses hundreds or thousands of tiny gems on each piece to create mosaic effects on rings, brooches, earrings and necklaces. The collection ranges from $58,000 to $8 million. Featured here is one of Tatiana Fabergé’s favorite pieces in the collection, a $335,000 Fire Bird Brooch.

Les Fabels de Faberge

Fabergé took a calculated risk to enter the jewelry market which has been badly hit in the recession, with a new management and design team. In a move that is completely modern, Fabergé has said they will not sell the jewelry through retail outlets. Instead they are using a different model, selling through an ornate website, a Geneva flagship store and 15 sales representatives willing to meet big spenders anywhere in the world. Fabergé may be a new line but it has the benefit of a name that is known everywhere and is synonymous with the upper echelons of luxury.

Kellen Moore

Former USC assistant sports information director Chris Huston runs a Heisman-tracking website called HeismanPundit.com. It’s a terrific resource for those who cover the Heisman race.

Boise State junior quarterback Kellen Moore is No. 3 on Huston’s preseason poll of select Heisman voters going into Monday's opener against Virginia Tech.

I asked Huston his opinion of Moore as a candidate this year for a story that will appear in Monday’s newspaper. See his comments at the bottom of the blog.

But I also like one of the features on HeismanPundit.com — The 10 Heismandments, which supposedly will help determine whether a candidate can actually win.

Here’s a look at those 10 rules — and how I see Moore fitting them.

THE 10 HEISMANDMENTS

1. The winner must be a quarterback, a running back, or a multi-threat athlete.

Moore: Quarterback. Check.

2. Juniors and seniors have the overwhelming advantage in the Heisman race and, as a general rule, will win over an underclassman. But a sophomore from a traditional power who puts up extraordinary single-season numbers can’t be discounted.

Moore: Junior. Check.

3. The winner must put up good numbers in big games on TV.

Moore: He gets his first chance Monday night against Virginia Tech. Moore must put up solid numbers — 200-plus yards and a couple touchdown passes, perhaps — to have a legitimate shot to win the Heisman. He also faces Oregon State, Fresno State and Nevada on national TV. The Fresno State and Nevada games are part of three straight Friday night games on ESPN2 in November, which could be critical for Moore.

4. The winner must have some prior name recognition.

Moore: He finished seventh in Heisman voting last year and is a favorite of the national media. Check.

5. The winner must be one or more of the following three:

a. The top player on a national title contender.

Moore: If the Broncos go undefeated, check.

b. A player who puts up good numbers for a traditional power that has a good record.

Moore: Not sure Boise State counts as a “traditional power” yet.”

c. A player who puts up superlative single-season or career numbers on a good team, or numbers which are way out ahead of his Heisman competitors.

Moore: Too early to tell.

6. The winner cannot be considered an obvious product of his team’s system. Call this the Andre Ware rule. Basically, this means that voters are unimpressed by huge stats put up by an individual in offensive systems conducive for huge numbers.

Moore: While Boise State is known for offense, its quarterbacks rarely put up the kind of numbers Moore posted last year.

7. If you are a quarterback, running back or multi-purpose athlete at one of the following schools, you have a good chance to win if you have a very good statistical season, are an upperclassman and your team wins at least 9 games: Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, Florida and Florida State.

Moore: Sorry, no.

8. There are statistical benchmarks for each position in order to be considered:

a. If you are a running back, you need to gain at least 2,000 yards if you are NOT on a traditional power or a national championship contender. This is a number that is slowly rising as more backs hit that mark. If you are on a traditional power or national title contender, you must gain at least 1,700 yards. In either case, you also must score at least 15 touchdowns.

b. If you are a passing quarterback on a traditional power or national title contender, you need to pass for at least 3,000 yards and must have at least a 2-1 touchdown to interception ratio, with at least 20 TD passes and an efficiency rating of at least 135.0.

c. If you are a running quarterback on a traditional power or a national title contender, you must reach the 1,000-yard mark rushing in spectacular fashion and also be a decent passer.

d. If you are a multi-threat athlete, you can only win if you produce spectacular plays on special teams, specifically kick and punt returns.

Moore: He blew away those quarterback numbers last year.

9. There will never be another two-time Heisman winner.

Moore: This helps him. The only player with more points in Heisman voting last year who returns is Alabama’s Mark Ingram, who won last year.

10. The winner must be likeable.

Weeds Season 6 Episode 4

It was only a matter of time before Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) got back to her drug dealing roots. After renouncing the name Botwin and shooting for the ‘normal’ life of the Newman family, Nancy decided that being ‘normal’ meant pushing marijuana. This is Weeds after all.

In Weeds Season 6 Episode 4, “A Yippity Sippity,” Nancy, Silas (Hunter Parrish) and Andy (Justing Kirk) take on regular jobs at a hotel. Nancy becomes a maid, only to get stuck cleaning the sheets for a man with a fetish for prostitutes that pee on him. Andy ends up becoming a dishwasher for a chef (Peter Stormare) who hates his guts. And, Shane is forced to read choose-your-own-adventure books to a man who tips heavy for teenage boys who read novels in their underwear. It was enough to drive a man to kill or rather drive a killer to steal. Shane (Alexander Gould) was forced to take care of his baby brother, while his family worked. When his baby stroller is found lacking, he decides to steal a new stroller.

Now the stage has been set. Nancy quickly finds out that, due to a hotel strike, the hotel’s usual marijuana supplier is on the picket line. She decides to plead her case for medicinal marijuana. While Nancy’s funds are short, Nancy learns that the neighborhood marijuana grower is throwing away marijuana trimmings. In exchange for one hundred dollars, Nancy gets a few trash bags filled with marijuana trimmings. Nancy puts her MacGyver level drug dealing talents to good use. She uses the hotel’s largest blender, a washing machine, to combine the marijuana with ice cubes and make hash. Let the drug dealing begin.

Doug finally returns to Weeds. Ignacio (Hemky Madera) and Cesar (Enrique Castillo) corner him when he returns home; most likely, they intend to interrogate Doug on Nancy’s whereabouts. We’ve missed Doug and our favorite Mexican gangsters in Weeds Season 6. Although Ignacio and Cesar have been in a few quick cut scenes this season, nothing has really shown off the comedic prowess these two displayed in Season 5. So, it’s great to see them back in the picture. We’ve also got Richard Dreyfuss and Mark-Paul Gosselaar slated for guest appearances.

Over the next few episodes we will probably see Esteban’s (Demián Bichir) team close in on Nancy. But, what of the feds? A man named Vince walked up to Nancy at the hotel’s bar using a cheesy pickup line. He said he was FBI, but then joked it off saying that he was a part of the Federal Bureau of Interested in you. Was this merely a pickup line or has the FBI really found Nancy and is working on turning her against Esteban? We’ve been there before and it didn’t work out in the law’s favor.

Frank Beamer

Frank Beamer may very well be one of the best coaches in college football, but Monday night's game against Boise State was not one of his finer moments.

With just under two minutes left Virginia Tech had a four point lead and the ball facing a third down. Boise had just used their last timeout and had experienced trouble stopping QB Tyrod Taylor from running the ball for the majority of the second half.

So what do you do?

Well, Coach Beamer and his staff called a pass, which ultimately ended up incomplete. It left Boise with 1:40 instead of just over one minute. Boise would take it down the field with the aid of a 15-yard late hit penalty and a Kellen Moore TD pass.

So why did Beamer lose the game for VaTech?

It's simple, the Boise offense would have had a different approach with one minute left rather than 1:40. That's all there is to say about it.

Beamer's call to pass the ball on third down when the opposing team has no timeouts left just says that he has no faith in his defense, and based on the final result, maybe I would agree with that.

But the bottom line is that you have to run the ball, specifically to the outside on a sweep or run that will take the most time, then punt, leaving the Broncos with a minute or less to move down the field.

Beamer may end up earning a college hall nomination and even a statue in Blacksburg, but tonight he earns the worst call of the week award. Simply put, Beamer needs to go back to what got the Hokies to where they are, smart and timely possessions, good special teams, and solid defense, all of which were lacking for the most part in D.C. on Labor Day night.

Ps3 Update 3.42

PS3 Update 3.42 is live updates. In the past couple of weeks, some PS3 Jailbreak code (PS groove, PS freedom) has been making its rounds on the internet allowing you to run this software on various devices (USB sticks, TI-84 calculators, Dingoo a320, etc) that could connect into the PlayStation 3 via USB and allow the users to run homebrew software and games that were installed to the hard drive.
Well, Sony isn't too keen on this and just released firmware update 3.42, which will be a mandatory update. It has been verified that this firmware update does, in fact, remove the ability to use the PS3 Jailbreak devices. Let the cat and mouse games begin and let's see how long it takes for developers to get the PS3 Jailbreak code working again.

Google Home Page

One of the most popular questions on Lockergnome asks members what they use for a home page. This thread has been active for a few months now. That itself is impressive: most questions die out after only a few hours. The overwhelming consensus is that people are using Google for their home page. This actually shocked me a bit. Sure, Google is becoming a verb instead of a website. It’s all-powerful in the minds of some people. But is this really what you need to see every single time you fire up a browser page?

I have nothing against the popular search engine. I happen to use it myself! However, I can think of many other sites which should hold that golden place of honor on my desktop. You may argue that you can find everything in an instant with Google. Yup, that’s true! You can click inside the handy little search box most browsers provide to do that search, though. Why would you need it as your home page?

What is the first thing you see when you fire up your browser du jour? What made you choose that particular site?

Google Theme

Hello I have a site that has been in google penalizing for 6 months (it based on wordpress) so I turn on exsisting theme to default and waited two days result was perfect the filter went away I wonder how effect the theme being in google penalizing.

After installing BuddyPress you may want to change from the default theme. Yes it looks great, but to stand out from other sites using BuddyPress you’ll want to use a different theme. Finding a good-looking BuddyPress theme you like is hard too, compared to WordPress there isn’t near as good a selection. So why not make your own?
In this 2nd guide of the series we’ll be making a bp-default child theme, which will only contain 2 files, this is to ensure your theme is as future proofed for BuddyPress as possible. Although we will be limited to the amount that can be done with these two files, you’d be surprised how much they can do.
