The kick punctuated an 11-player game Washington Quarterback Jake Locker, an early season favorite for the Heisman Trophy.
BYU briefly took command in the second half, but with 8:43 remaining in the half, quarterback Jake Locker Washington ran 9 yards for a touchdown to recover the lead.
BYU’s only touchdown came with 12:08 remaining in the second quarter, when Riley Nelson is Joshua Quezada for a touchdown pass 9-yard.
Nelson, then shaved his way through a two-point conversion that gave BYU a lead of 13-7. At 13 the most original points.
After Washington took a 7-0 lead on its first drive, the Cougars scored first on a safety after a wave of wind in the Huskies punter, then with 31 seconds remaining in the first quarter Mitch Payne converted a 22 objective -yard field to make the score 7-5.
The goal came on the field after Jake Heaps, who also split time at quarterback with Nelson today, given his pass to Richard Wilson bounce hands tight end.
Washington, leading 7-0 with 4:30 remaining in the first quarter, tried to punt from their own 39 yard line. Long snapper Brandon Lopez, however, the ball sailed far over the head of punter Will Mahan. With two BYU players, Mahan drove the ball into the end zone and when he caught wisely threw in the back of the end zone to give BYU security.
