Glenn Shadix, best known for his role as Otho in the movie ‘Beetlejuice,’ is dead at the age of 58. The cause of the actor’s death is believed to be an accident. Reports suggest that he fell out of his wheelchair and suffered a blow to the head. Read more about the tragedy, and a biography below.

This one really hits hard. I don’t know anybody who didn’t love Tim Burton’s creepy movie as a kid. In fact, I’m going to go old school and watch it tonight on VHS.

TMZ first broke the news. Click here for more on the story from them.

As a biography, William Glenn Shadix was born on April 15, 1952 in Bessemer, Alabama. He was openly gay. For his collegiate years he went to Birmingham-Southern, and then relocated to NYC. After living some time in New York he relocated again, this time to Hollywood, California. He rose to fame after landing a role in ‘Beetlejuice,’ which his agent advised him to pass up. Fortunately Shadix ignored his agent’s misinformed advice. During filming for the movie Burton and Shadix struck up a friendship, which resulted in them making two more films together – ‘The Nighmare Before Christmas’ and ‘Planet of the Apes’. He has appeared in numerous films and television shows – follow this link to learn about his other roles. In winter of 2008 his Queen Anne Victorian home was burnt to ashes in a fire. About the fire he sadly said, “I have lost my dream.” He died on September 7, 2010.

He left behind his sister Susan Gagne, and spouse Jon Jong.
