At the weekend we brought you news of a tropical depression forming in the Atlantic which looked set to become a tropical storm or maybe even a hurricane. It seems that today Hurricane Danielle has now developed in the Atlantic, with winds of up to 75 mph.

It’s anticipated that the hurricane will become even stronger over the course of the next two day. By this afternoon the hurricane was approximately 1,320 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, according to an Associated Press report over on USA Today. The National Hurricane Center in Miami warns that by Wednesday wind speeds could reach 115 mph.

At present the storm is far from land and is set to head to sea east of Bermuda by the weekend. Brian K. Sullivan over on Bloomberg Businessweek reports that hurricane Danielle is currently heading west-northwest at 17mph.

It is not expected so far that there will be any threat to land areas. Hurricane Danielle is now the second hurricane of the 2010 season.
