Brendan Frail has died, Frail’s death confirmed by the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office Sunday. Brendan Frail died around midnight Saturday, falling into the Croton Reservoir. Investigators are initially ruling Frail’s death an accident.
Brendan Frail headed to the area with two friends ages 19 and 20. They arrived shortly before midnight Saturday, parked their cars, and reportedly climbed over a five foot high railing to sit on a bike path bridge that runs across the Reservoir.
Roughly thirty minutes later, Frail and his friends prepared to leave. A a spokesman for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection tells local news Sunday that, upon motioning to leave, Frail fell off the 40-foot tall bridge into the water.
His friends failed to call 911 initially, trying to find Frail himself. Police believe the 911 call may have come in 8 minutes after the event. Frail’s body was found in the river shortly after 9 am today. Frail was a graduate of Yorktown High School.Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
