NC State Football:With fighter jets zooming in on the overpass before the game and paratroopers floated down to half landing, North Carolina rolled out a set of special concerns in their national emergence of attention.
And what unfolded on the pitch only increased the fun.
Wolfpack took care of Cincinnati 30-19 and absorbed exclusivity of its Thursday night game at Carter-Finley Stadium.
“All eyes are on us, that’s how we see,” NC State receiver Jarvis Williams said. “We are confident that we have given throughout the show, and more importantly, we got the victory on national television.”
Cincinnati compressed into two touchdowns in the last 6 ½ minutes to reduce the sting that was whipping from North Carolina.
Wolfpack quarterback Russell Wilson was a performance that matched the high-profile stage crushing Bearcats to 26 of 40 passing for 333 yards and three touchdowns.
Wilson threw replenishment among 11 receivers, as North Carolina had improved 3-0, its best start to the season since 2002, when the former star Philip Rivers quarterbacked for 9-0 start.
Wilson punctuated Wolfpack’s scoring with an 8-yard toss to quarterback Taylor Gentry, who tumbled defender to reach the end zone. It is grown in North Carolina ahead of 7.30 in the middle of the fourth quarter.
“I think we had better throw and catch a ball, of course,” coach Tom O’Brien said, noting the improvement of NC State. “(Wilson) had some opportunities. We put ourselves in good situations.”

After Cincinnati quarterback Zac Collaros met DJ Woods in the middle of a 68-yard catch-and-Run – Woods raced over the last 45 yards – NC State responded just before the break.
Wilson hit Curtis Underwood, Jr. from the rear at 12 yards, so that increased lead Wolfpack at 23.07 with 64 seconds remaining in the first half.
Cincinnati (1-2), it is obvious that a team in transition, never came close to resembling a back to back Big East championship teams in the recent past.
Those Bearcats, who have reached the Orange Bowl and sugar, were led by coach Brian Kelly (currently in charge of Notre Dame), a former quarterback Tony Pike (now a backup with the Carolina Panthers) and former receiver Mardy Gilyard (currently time with the St.. Luis Rams).
North Carolina swarmed Collaros and registered five quarterback sacks before allowing some slippage in the last minute, when many in the crowd of 55,934 filed out of the stadium.
Three of the bags Wolfpack came on one series in the third quarter.
“We were scared to death by his counsel, who came to him his start / stop capabilities,” said O’Brien. “I think we did a very good job on it.”
