Double Rainbow Guy

If you're going to have your 15 minutes of fame, you might as well profit from it too. That's the sound logic of Paul "Bear" Vazquez, the Yosemite National Park resident more commonly known as "Double Rainbow guy" for the way he endearingly flipped out over one of nature's minor miracles. You've seen the video, right? You haven't?! What does this mean?

Jersey Shore season 2 episode 6

Guess what, "Jersey Shore" fans? Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola is done! She's done! Except she's not! She is not!  You'll recall that Sammi discovered (thanks to an anonymous note)  that boyfriend Ronnie Magro  had been fooling around with other women out at the clubs, and then returning home to sleep with her. I would have bet my last can of spray bronzer that Sammi actually meant it for once at the end of the last episode. After all, how humiliating is to be played for a fool in front of an audience of millions? But, it turns out, that's not the humiliating part. What really mortifies her is finding out via the anonymous note, even though she had begged everyone in the house to tell her if they saw Ronnie pawing at other girls.

At one point tonight, she tells her housemates, "Whoever wrote me the note, thank you, I appreciate it because I look like a (bleeping) idiot." Psst, Sammi: You don't look like an idiot because you found out Ronnie's a jerk; you look like an idiot because you should have known Ronnie's a jerk.

Meanwhile, she and Ronnie appear to be on okay terms, and she even slips into his bed one night. Whaaa? Are they back together again or not? So when she says she's done, she really means she's done with Jenni "JWoww" Farley and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, whom she fingers as the most likely super-secret note-writers.

Funny thing is, JWoww is none too pleased with Sammi either. First she's angry because she thinks Sammi is just going to forgive Ronnie again. When Snooki decides that she and JWoww should confess to Sammi that they wrote the note, they send Angelina Pivarnick into the house to fetch Sammi, but she refuses go outside to talk to them. "She's lucky I don't go in there and backhand her." JWoww says, stomping into the house, where she gets into Sammi's face, saying that everybody knew that Ronnie was cheating on her. Ronnie pulls a "who, me?" face while tribal drums begin to play. Sammi tells JWoww that she should have told her, because JWoww and Snooki were her closest friends in the house. When Sammi asks all the castmates who wrote the note, no one cops to it. JWoww reminds Sammi that she (off-camera) warned Sammi to get checked for STDs, because Ronnie told her during the hiatus that he hooked up with a girl in a bathroom on Long Island, then returned to Sammi's bed that night. Yeah, Sammi! Look it up in the thesaurus! Get checked = Your boyfriend is cheating on you, ya big dummy. Then Ronnie piles on JWoww, essentially saying that if she had been a real friend to Sammi, she would have told her what a scumbag he is the moment she found out instead of waiting a week. Awesome.

The next day, Sammi is freezing out JWoww and Snooki, refusing to help them shop, tote groceries or cook the Sunday night dinner for the rest of the house. Sammi doesn't even eat the dinner, only picks at her salad, which further pisses JWoww off. Sammi, meanwhile, is bonding with Angelina. When Sammi asks her whether JWoww and Snooki wrote the letter, Angelina gets a coy smile on her face that all but confirms it. This, despite JWoww warning Angelina on several occasions that she's going to go medieval on her if she tells Sammi they wrote the note.

The gang heads out that night to a club, where Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio gets drunk and has to be helped home and into bed. When JWoww talks to her boyfriend on the phone, she matter-of-factly mentions this, then goes to her room. Angelina tells Sammi and Ronnie in a scandalized whisper that JWoww told her boyfriend that Pauly D was drunk. "Was she talking s---?" Sammi asks. "Yeah," Angelina answers. Vinny "Please MTV Give Me a Storyline That Doesn't Revolve Around Eye Infections" Guadagnino says he heard both conversations, and didn't appreciate Angelina's attempt at stirring the pot. So he steps up to the plate and ... tattles to JWoww. JWoww squares her shoulders and returns to the living room to confront Angelina, who denies talking smack about Pauly D. JWoww is asking Angelina why she cares so much about her conversation with her boyfriend when Sammi pipes up, "Who gives a f---? JWoww wheels around and starts in on Sammi: "What, did you grow some balls all of a sudden?"

There's cursing and yelling and more back-and-forth about that godforsaken note. JWoww gets up in Sammi's face, then Sammi gets up in JWoww's face, and then JWoww clamps her hands over Sammi's ears and pushes her head away. Sammi manages to smack JWoww in the face, but JWoww expertly grabs her hair and takes her down. Is anyone surprised by JWoww's prowess? Not me. As first Angelina and then Ronnie and Snooki move in to break things up, Sammi pops back up, but JWoww pushes her head down again. They both hit each other in the face, and ... scene! More girlfight is promised next week.

Some other stuff happens. Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino unceremoniously kicks a girl out of bed and later vibes with an apparent transsexual without realizing she's a he; Vinny and Snooki hook up, and Snooki is impressed with his, um, dimensions ("It's like putting a watermelon into a pinhole"); and Angelina and a very drunk Pauly D smooch a little.

Bethany Storro Acid attack

Her face was covered in white cotton bandages, and she needed a nerve block to help with the pain.

But Bethany Storro made it clear Thursday that she doesn't plan to let the attack on her this week define her future.

"I have no enemies ... I don't get it," Storro said during a news conference at the Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland. "But I can't let what she did to me wreck my life. That's not fair. But in time, I'm going to forgive her."

Storro made her comments to a crowd of reporters with her parents, Nancy and Joe Neuwelt, at her side.

The 28-year-old Vancouver woman was attacked Monday evening by an unidentified woman who threw acid in her face.

Storro went from celebrating her new job and recent move to Washington from Idaho, to writhing in agony on the ground.

Wednesday night, Dr. Nick Eshraghi, a surgeon at the Burn Center, removed dead skin from the areas most deeply injured.

Thursday morning, she met with reporters for nearly 30 minutes.

She responded to questions after reading reporters' lips. Storro said she had spinal meningitis twice as a child, which took most of her hearing.

Despite all this, she joked at how her eyesight was spared because just 20 minutes before the attack near Esther Short Park, she bought a pair of sunglasses.

"Oh my gosh -- to be hard of hearing and blind?" she said, laughing and pointing at her parents. "That would drive them nuts. They have to be in the same room for me to hear them. I'm just so glad ... it's a miracle."

She said she has received letters and e-mails from across the country and is relying on friends, family and faith to get her through.

"You can imagine how I feel," said Joe Neuwelt. "This is my little girl. We're going to get through this ... we're not going to allow this to stop our lives."

Meanwhile, Vancouver police detectives were on the streets again Thursday searching for witnesses to the attack.

"We are really focusing the investigation on the area around the shopping district where this took place," said Kim Kapp, a Vancouver police spokeswoman. "So far, we haven't found any witnesses and we have no suspects."

Storro said the woman was about 5 feet 8 inches with black hair pulled into a tight pony tail. She was African American, wearing a green top and khaki shorts. Also, Storro recalled Thursday that her attacker had three piercings on the top part of her left ear and wore no makeup.

The incident occurred about 7:40 p.m. near Columbia and West Eighth Street. Storro had just parked to get coffee at the Starbucks at 304 W. Eighth St.

She was retrieving something from her car when the woman, about the same age as Storro, walked up to her.

The woman said, "Hey, pretty girl, you want a drink of this?" before throwing a powerful acid in Storro's face.

"It was the most painful thing ever," Storro said. "My heart stopped. It ripped through my clothing the instant it touched my shirt. ... I could feel it burning through my second layer of skin."

Asked what she would say to the woman, she said her first question would be "Why?"

"I have never, ever seen this girl in my entire life," she said.

Jan Brewer Debate Videos

In a recent debate that New york Governor, Jan Brewer conducted with opponent Democrat Terry Goddard on live TV, the pressure that the feds have been exerting shows. Appearing awkward and worn out from the strain of defending her state from the continued vicious assaults by the federal government over the illegal immigration issue, the debate took an abrupt turn.
In a move that will without a doubt delight liberals as they conduct their unwavering assault on New york with boycotts and frivolous litigation, Governor Jan Brewer began the debate with a few positive statements about what her administration had been able to accomplish, but was obviously under pressure. Her statements of balancing the state budget, gearing up the law enforcement method, and passing SB1070 were all correct. in 600 days her legislature has completed much to improve the state’s operation, but he also pointed out that her Democratic opponent, Terry Goddard supported the unions which were presently boycotting the state. He was obviously upset with the boycotting of her state by such entities as Los Angeles, Boulder, Colorado, and local unions among lots of others, who are pressuring New york to alter what the giant majority of the state’s citizens support.
Showing the strain of the last few months and what the cost of bravery in her convictions and defending the interests of her people has taken out of her, Governor Jan Brewer was obviously distraught and weakened. He abruptly ended the news interview amidst the hammering of reporters and her Democratic opponent, Terry Goddard.
It’s now been revealed that Obama’s administration has been attacking Arizona’s educational systems as well. By trying to prosecute Sheriff Joe Arpaio and state institutions as well for merely doing their jobs the feds have revealed their strategy as part of their pressing intimidation. All states ought to be observing this event with interest so as to take note of the manner in which US Attorney, Eric Holder, and his team assault the innocent and the majority who stand for Constitutional law and holding the federal government accountable in their role of defending our state borders. Repeatedly our own government is bullying those who are basically pursuing their rightful duties and enforcing the law of the land.
Under assault now is the Junior College method of New york for supposedly making a higher paperwork load for non-citizen candidates claiming that this constitutes a kind of discrimination. because undocumented people have a tiny more paperwork to fill out, this has become a justifiable cause for the Justice Department to spend even more tax payer’s dollars to assault one of our own states of the union. I don’t know how much more insane the behavior of our selected officials and judiciary method can become! It is clear that ideology and twisted agendas are much more important to President Obama then the rights of US citizens.
As Arizona’s most trusted sheriff, Joe Arpaio, is threatened with arrest by federal officials, Democrat Terry Goddard denounces Governor Jan Brewer for saying that drug cartel murders consisting of beheadings were fictitious and were giving people the wrong impression about New york as a hazardous place. This, Goddard said, was why the economy was being affected due to scaring away tourist industry and potential residents with inaccurate reports of violence and criminal activity. Hmm, am I missing something here or have they not been seeing the mounting occurrence of drug related violence historicallyin the past few years?
Amazing, when on one hand your federal government not only refuses to assist in guarding your borders to the point that you must take matters in to your own hands and draft a law that is a mirror picture of the federal law, only you intend to enforce yours, and yet, your are legally attacked for it. The drug cartels have been executing rival drug gangs by decapitating, shooting, and torturing Mexicans, and in some cases US citizens and even law enforcement personnel. Yet, Democrat, Terry Goddard continues to make use of the same tactic as Obama’s administration by denying a controversy exists, and attacking someone who confirms that the issue does indeed exist.
To make matters worse they have a federal government who is now conducting a defacto amnesty that is not supported by the giant majority of voters, by releasing imprisoned prisoners back in to the general population. This is a potentially hazardous move that will finish up harming innocent US citizens as lots of of these illegal immigrants were criminals or drug dealers. Refusing to uphold the law, Obama’s henchmen are now leading us in to lawlessness and exposing state citizens to more threats, thus emboldening illegal aliens to the idea of breaching our borders with no threat of prosecution or consequence. With the federal threat of film night, dance lessons, or multiple beverage stations to let illegal aliens know they mean business, I think they can look forward to much more of them breaching our borders and bringing crime with them as they provide medical assistance and multilingual schooling.
Am I living in some waking nightmare, or are they doing this? Is the federal government expecting the people to take this passively without anger or defiance? People, how much more are you going to take when your own government refuses to protect us? Vote in November! How long will it be until the feds show up at your neighborhood, county, or state, and start using the same tactics you see at work in New york?

Vermilion Bay

Its name is drawn from a ruddy pigment used since ancient times. But right now the collective worry is that it’s about to become streaked with a fresh leak of brown crude: The site of an Gulf oil platform explosion, reported Thursday morning by a helicopter company flying over the area, is 80 miles from Vermilion Bay along the central coast of Louisiana.

Surge Desk has the details on the bay’s location, wildlife and history with oil rigs — and oil disasters like this one on Mariner Energy’s platform.

Where is Vermilion Bay exactly?

The bay is an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, to which it’s linked by the Southwest Pass straight. Vermilion River, a 72-mile stretch of water that flows through southern Louisiana, feeds into the bay.

On the bay’s southwestern shore, there’s a dedicated wildlife refuge zone — it’s also in close range to Marsh Island, home to yet another state wildlife refuge.

What’s Vermilion Bay known for?

Largely wildlife and fishing. The bay is home to myriad marine life, as well as alligators, shorebirds and wading birds.

The flora and fauna in the area also make it a hot spot for camping: Cypremort Point State Park, on the coast of the bay, offers fishing, canoeing, kayaking and bird watching for tenting tourists.

Has It Been Affected by Oil Spills Before?

Oh, you know it. The BP oil spill was a direct hit to the bay: 1,100 miles off the coast of Vermilion were closed to fishing after the April spill.

Patches of oil were spotted in the bay via satellite imagery throughout the summer.

Conservation projects in the area, like an oyster reef restoration project, were stalled by the spill and have just started picking up steam again. Time will tell whether this latest rig incident stops them yet again. So far, reports of another oil leak have not been confirmed.

Marlins Nationals Fight Video

More often than not, baseball brawls are lame. A pitcher plunks a batter, the batter charges the mound, the pitcher readies himself for the fight and then the players start aimlessly swinging like two preteen. Not this time.

In fact this time it has gotten out of hand. Someone needs to do something about this thug masquerading as a baseball player. Nyjer Morgan needs to be roped in quickly before he does some real damage.

Did you see the way he swung at Volstad. This wasn’t your typical “for-show” baseball fight. He meant to maim and injure. If Bud Selig has a pair he should step in and put this guy on the shelf for the rest of the season. Give him the time to think about his actions and MAYBE re-instate him next year.

IF he wants to hit somebody like that tell him to start a career in mixed martial arts. But he is obviously too much of a coward to do that. He’d get his sorry ass whacked. He’d be tapping out in no time flat. Might serve to do him some good.

You get paid millions to play a kids game. You’re given access to a lifestyle that many will never be afforded. And you flip off the very people who let you live your dream.

Nyjer Morgan, you’re a scumbag. And yes, if you want to charge me…bring it on!

More of what happened:

Volatile Nationalsoutfielder Nyjer Morgan has given us some classic moments of anger, and he added to his personal list when he charged the mound a sparked a basebrawl during his team’s loss to the Marlins.

Nyjer Morgan instigated two home plate collisions that ended up costing his team runs and generated controversy. The first happened in last Saturday. Who is the most hated athlete in sports Nyjer Morgan of the Washington Nationals is trying to find out so he can beat them up and take the crown.

After seeing his latest incident, you get the feeling even his team. Marlinspitcher Chris Volstad threw a pitch behind Morgan and Nyjer decided to charge. The result is this Nationals and Marlins fight video which is one of the best sports fights we’ve had in a while.

A lot of times these days it doesn’t seem like baseball players really want to fight, even when the benches clear. That was not the case tonight with the Nationals and the Marlins. Chris Volstad of the Marlins threw a pitch behind Nyjer, and it was on.

90210 Day Videos

You may have heard that today is considered to be “90210 Day.” Actually, since the date works out to 09-02-10, it would more accurately fit a show called “Beverly Hills 090210,” but that’s too long for a zip code, so let’s just go along with the conventional wisdom.

The original 90210 is eternally addictive in a way that few of its imitators have been. Melrose Place was arguably as big a cultural phenomenon at its peak, but it hasn’t had the same long-term impact, as you can see by the fact that the revival bombed while the 90210 revival has managed to keep going on the strength of its name (and not much else, at this point). The show was a mash-up of several different styles and objectives: it was a socially-conscious teen drama and an Aaron Spelling glamour soap and a controversy-courting early Fox network show and a show that always had to offer constructive morals and role models.

Several of its character archetypes have been unavoidable in teen TV ever since, particularly the lead character who is supposed to be the “moral centre” of the show and is actually a preachy, self-righteous creep. I was able to ask Jason Priestley a few questions recently about his entertaining new show Call Me Fitz, and the last question I couldn’t resist asking him was whether it feels good not to be the guy who’s always preaching at everybody. He said “yes, it’s good to get my hands dirty.” But you know, given a choice between a sleazy Rat Pack obsessed car salesman and Brandon, who would spend all his time telling us how perfect and wonderful he is and how flawed we are, I think many of us would rather hang out with Fitz. (The scary thing would be having to choose whether to hang out with Brandon Walsh or Dawson Leery.)
