Big Ten Network 2010

Commissioner Jim Delany made it all official tonight on the Big Ten Network, and although Ohio State and Michigan are in different divisions, they will play each year and it will be the final game of the regular season.

-The “X’ division includes Ohio State, Indiana, Illinois, Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
BIG TEN NETWORK
-The “O” division is made up of Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern.

A team will play each school in its division every year as well as one crossover rival from the opposite division.  For Ohio State the crossover team is Michigan.  Those six games (division teams and crossover rival) are set in stone and will be played every single season.

In an effort to honor, encourage and support the thousands of Big Ten community members who give back, the Big Ten Network is launching Give Big, a major community service initiative.

“Give Big recognizes that being a part of the Big Ten means giving back to the community in a big way.”

The first Give Big profile airs Friday during Big Ten Tailgate, which originates from the University of Iowa and features John Heineman.

It’s Lane Kiffin’s debut as Trojans head coach. The Utes have won 17 consecutive home games and are 7-0 against Big East teams.

Ohio State University opens up its college football title bid with a season home opener against Marshall. The Buckeyes are favored to take it to the next level with Terrelle Pryor providing leadership. Despite being number two and picked as a title favorite this early, the Buckeyes are focused on winning the national title this season.

Ohio State and Marhsall kickoff is at 7:30 pm EDT in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes are expected to win against Marshall tonight but they may have a tougher time next weekend against a tougher Miami squad ranked 13 in preseason polls.

Pryor is a candidate for the Heisman Trophy especially now that Mark Ingram is sidelined indefinitely with a knee injury. The versatile player is ably supported by a team driven to make it all the way this season.

Latest Update News About Espn 360, Espn360, Miami Hurricanes Football, Miami Hurricanes Football Schedule 2010, Espn 3, Time Warner Cable customers get ESPN3 in new deal: LOS ANGELES (AP) — Time Warner Cable Inc. customers will finally get access to the sports website ESPN3.com, even if they are not subscribers of the company’s Internet service, according to a long-term deal with The Walt Disney Co. announced Thursday.

In the deal, 12.7 million of Time Warner’s video subscribers and 2.4 million Bright House Networks video subscribers will get access to ESPN3.com without an extra charge. ESPN3.com offers full game videos, and recently it carried live World Cup matches that built huge audiences via computer screens in the workplace. About 7.4 million people tuned in to ESPN3.com at one point during the tournament, on average watching two hours each.

Time Warner Cable and Bright House had long been holdouts on ESPN3.com, which has been around in different forms since 2001. They said Disney’s pattern of tying fees to the number of Internet subscribers was inappropriate, since not all its Internet customers wanted to pay extra to access a single website.

In conceding the deal terms on ESPN3.com, in exchange Disney cut its most extensive deal ever with the companies. They had not renegotiated since 2000, only agreeing to a three-year extension in 2007.

Among the expanded offerings, Time Warner is launching a new college football channel called “ESPN Goal Line” that gives fans a live peek at games around the nation on Saturdays, a similar offering to the NFL Network’s “NFL RedZone.” The first program starts Saturday for sports tier subscribers. A similar service called “ESPN Buzzer Beater” will be offered for the college basketball season in January.

Jennifer Aniston & Harry Morton?

Jennifer Aniston is being crucified by the gossip sites and she was seen dating the former boyfriend of Lindsay Lohan. We refer to the Hard Rock Café Harry Morton descending gently as they were dining at the Sunset Tower hotel.

Do you have bad Jen is collecting waste from Lindsay Lohan? In fact, Jennifer Aniston seems to be in love with Morton as she was photographed patting their arms while they dined. Another thing is that Morton is 12 years younger than Jennifer Aniston. Well, if she is happy with him, who are we to get in the way?

Jennifer Anniston, the lead actress in the movie The Switch, was disappointed enough with the change of title of the film.

During the opening night of his latest film, The Switch, said the film's original title, The Baster, was more "cool" that the title changed. The new title was over 375 trials and meetings and focus group discussions. Anniston implies that it is useful to have the Baster as the title.

The film revolves around the story of an unmarried woman who wanted to have a baby, not the natural means of sexual reproduction, but just a sperm donor.

Jennifer Anniston, who was known popularly in its passage through Friends, attended the first screening of the film wearing a strapless mini dress. The actress was accompanied by co-actor Jason Bateman at the Arclight Theater.

Anniston States, "I wanted it was still called The Baster, changed because of 375 tests and meetings and focus groups. Baster cool names like The are activated at the switch."

The film, especially Jennifer Anniston, was accused of providing negative message to the public. Critics say the Anniston is to show the public that the concept of having a father is no longer important in a family.

Moreover, Anniston went through some controversy after she said the film showed that men are no longer a necessary ingredient in the formation of a family. "

Oil Rig Explosion

Another oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico exploded today. All crew members survived. Right now, nobody knows whether or not the explosion caused a leak in any of the seven wells that the rig collects from. There have been reports of an oil slick on the water near the fire, but that could just as easily be from the finite amount of oil stored on the rig—which would still a spill, but a significantly less problematic one.

Other than that, there's not really much information out about this right now. If anybody's learned anything from Deepwater Horizon it seems to be that you're better off, PR-wise, if you don't have to correct everything you say two days later.

To give you something to chew over in the meantime, though, Deep Sea News has been doing a really interesting series on the science (such as it is) of oil dispersants. It's interesting, not just because of the basic facts, but also because it gets into the details of why we don't know more.

Dispersants must be applied successfully and have a high effectiveness once in ocean waters. This sounds easy, in principle--once you've perfected your Corexit formula in the lab, just spray it from a helicopter, and voila! Except there are a lot of factors which you also have to take into account: the composition of the oil spilled, sea energy, whether the oil has been subjected to weathering at all, exact type of dispersant used and the amount which you sprayed, and ocean temperature/salinity.

Thank goodness for all those lab tests over the years which figured all this stuff out, you say. Um, well actually it seems like even designing simulation experiments is difficult, and different tests can report different effectiveness scores for the same dispersant. It is difficult to accurately scale up lab tests in order to predict dispersant action on real spills. Older studies used methods and analyses which have since been discredited. Wave-tank tests can probably provide upper limits on dispersant effectiveness, but there are SEVENTEEN (!!) critical factors that require strict control for accurate results (Fingas 2002). Field tests in open ecosystems are even worse for measuring the fate of oil and controlling variables. In terms of measuring dispersant effectiveness, tank tests, field tests, and lab tests all disagree. Awesome.
