Ricky said it was great that he could say “Bucky Gunts” in live television.

And the winner is . . . Claire Daines for "Temple Grandin." It's the first Emmy for Ms. Danes. This biography of a woman with Autism seems to be the surprising runaway winner at the Emmys tonight with three wins so far all the acting categories. It's funny to see that everytime a winner from the film mention's Dr. Grandin's name, she stands up in the audience and waves. She must really like the spotlight.
Now on to best directing for a miniseries or movie. The winner is. . .Mick Jackson for, what else, "Temple Grandin." It's the first Emmy for Mr. Jackson, who's also directed films.
Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie. And the Emmy goes to . . . AL PACINO! I just knew it. It's one of the best performances he's ever done along with his work in "Dog Day Afternoon" and when he won his first Emmy for "Angels in America." If you see "You Don't Know Jack," you can see him completely embody the spirit and mannerisms of Jack Kevorkian. Kevorkian is in the audience and looks a bit in awe. Pacino also thanked the guys who did the hair and makeup for him that turned him into Kevorkian. I agree, they did a great job.
Two HBO made-for-TV films dominated this segment. The broadcast networks really ought to revive their efforts here. I doubt they will though.
Not only did the "Breaking Bad" star win for best supporting actor for his outstanding (and we do mean outstanding) portrayal of Jesse Pinkman, but it means he beat his idols, Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson of "Lost."
Paul is a huge "Lost" fan.

The Good Wife' star Archie Panjabi cemented her status as the year's breakout television star with her surprise Emmy win in the Best Supporting Drama Actress category.
She beat out heavy hitters like her 'Good Wife' co-star Christine Baranski, 'Mad Men' nominees Elisabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks and TV veteran Sharon Gless.
"When I started in the business in England, just getting a job was a dream," she said while accepting the trophy. "And to receive an Emmy now is just beyond my wildest dreams ... Working on 'The Good Wife' for me is like a dream come true."
She went on to thank "Angelina," whom USA Today confirmed to be her 'Mighty Heart' co-star Angelina Jolie.

The clinic was hosted by Major League Soccer star Alecko Eskandarian, who drew hundreds of youth soccer players from ages 5 to 18 for the event.
Eskandarian, a native of Montvale, N.J., attended Bergen Catholic High School and the University of Virginia and is now a member of the MLS team L.A. Galaxy. With more than 125 MLS appearances and 30 goals, Eskandarian was a true gentleman in giving up his time to help youth soccer players fulfill their dreams. Eskandarian is currently injured and will miss the remainder of the 2010 MLS season.
When asked what was keeping him off the field, Eskandarian answered, “I have a few injuries at the moment, but it is concussions keeping me off the field right now.”
A former winner of the Hermann Trophy, an award given annually to the top college soccer player, and a two-time MLS all-star, Eskandarian has long ties to the Clarkstown Soccer Club.
“A lot of these [Clarkstown Soccer Club] coaches coached me when I was younger. We stay in touch,” said Eskandarian.
The Clarkstown Soccer Club is quite large and always welcomes new members. There are two divisions of the club: Intramural and Travel. Both divisions have teams ranging from Under 8-years-old to Under 18-years-old for boys and girls.
The intramural program at the Clarkstown Soccer Club has more than 2,000 members and really emphasizes exercise, fun and, of course, teamwork to footballers of all skill levels.
“Every kid gets to play regardless of skill level,” said Intramural Coordinator Mike Moran. The intramural season will be starting soon and playing through the fall.
Latest Update News About Pernell Roberts, Dixie Carter, Andrew Koenig, Dennis Hopper, Corey Haim: I have to say, as much criticism as I have for the ending of Lost, I was hoping the actors would get a little Emmy love. I expected Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn to cancel each other out for the best supporting actor Emmy, but I thought Matthew Fox really had a shot of grabbing a much-deserved award.
Elizabeth Mitchell unfortunately didn’t have a chance against the heavyweights in the guest actress category, though she certainly had just as much right to the Emmy.
Ricky Gervais, how I love thee. You just never know what he’s going to say, or how naughty it’s going to be, and you’re always waiting for that trademark giggle of his to escape. He’s just full of so much glee–his exuberant joy at discovering that Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony director Bucky Gunts actually DID win the category after his riff on the guy’s name was absolutely priceless.
Alex Skarsgård in all his lofty gorgeousness made True Blood costars Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin look like tiny elves–and then Al Pacino came out and somehow was even tinier. Serpico’s not quite so scary now…
Jimmy Fallon’s musical numbers on stage and with audience guests like Julianna Margulies, Tom Hanks, and Stephen Colbert were made of win. The Twitter comments Fallon read out–not so much.

I’m thrilled that Jim Parsons won a much deserved Emmy award for his role as Sheldon on Big Bang Theory. I also loved that he said he was grateful just to be working, but even more grateful to get to play such an outstanding character. Modern Family gets tons of deserved buzz (yeahy for the Emmy!) but Big Bang Theory is consistently and inventively hilarious.
The In Memoriam was heartbreaking–we lost a lot of wonderful people this year. I was shocked and saddened to see Caroline McWilliams from 80s series Benson; she lost her battle with cancer earlier this year. Jewel’s tribute song was lovely, and for once it seemed to deter some of the clapping favoritism–though not all of it.
Over all the Emmy Awards was fast-paced, mildly amusing, and some of the “little people” gave great speeches. As is typical of awards shows, many of the programs that won were series or specials that I haven’t seen–which definitely dampens the whole enjoyment of the Emmy Awards. However, the awards do their job in enticing us to check out some of these award winning shows we’ve missed. I’m definitely curious about Temple Grandin now.
