The actress who became the voice of “Dora the Explorer ‘in 2007 has just sued Nickelodeon on Wednesday stating that the company exploited her through a questionable contract that earned millions to the network, but very little to her.
Lawyers for Caitlin Sanchez, 14, told the New York Daily News that the actress and her parents were pressured to sign a “contract unconscionable” that prevented her from earning “millions, perhaps tens of millions dollars.”
The lawsuit, filed in the Supreme Court in Manhattan on Wednesday, cites Nickelodeon, MTV Networks and Viacom International as defendants. Sanchez and her parents believe that the young star was not properly compensated for hundreds of hours of study, plus personal appearances and show.
“They used Caitlin, unjustly enriching themselves of millions of dollars in profits from the series and branded products, which Caitlin performed and promoted,” explains the lawsuit.
