Viktor Navorski arrived at the international airport JFK, but believes that he can not leave the airport. Because of civil war, the United States no longer recognizes Krakozhia as a sovereign state and has denied entry to the United States of Victor, because he technically has no nationality. Victor quickly befriended members of the terminal, under the watchful eye of an immigration officer Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci) who wants Navorski removed from the airport. He uses the money to buy food from Burger King, until eventually Dixon prevent him from collecting. After the meeting, flight attendant Amelia Warren (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and invited to dinner, Navorski trying to earn enough money to ask Amelia out of place. Finally, he gets outside of the book work as a builder at the airport to earn $ 19 an hour.
Viktor Amelia once explains that the purpose of his visit to New York is collecting autographs of jazz tenor saxophonist Benny Golson. His late father was a jazz enthusiast. He discovered the “Great Day in Harlem” photograph in a Hungarian newspaper in 1958, and promised to get an autograph from all 57 jazz musicians featured on the photo.
