Halo Reach Launch Party 1
They say all good things must come to an end, and this is no exception. The launch is upon us, and today, September 14, 2010, the last installment of the worlds most popular first person shooter game was made available to Microsoft Xbox junkies everywhere.
But, today isn’t a sad day; rather it is a time for the gamers to rejoice, as they have been waiting patiently, ever since the game was unveiled at E3 in 2009, for this day to arrive. Tonight many fanatics will pop Halo “Reach” into their consoles, order a few greasy Pizzas, and pull an all nighter killing evil alien invaders, only to repeat this process for many weeks to come. Are you one of the fanatics I’m speaking of? I thought so!
Wired.com has the 411 about it being leaked to bit torrent, and illegal downloading.
Bungie, the developer of Halo, has its sight set on new horizons. What are the company’s plans for the future? What types of new technologies are arising, and how has it affected the creative process of developing Halo? Find out the answers to these intriguing questions here.
So, what is the Halo “Reach,” countdown clock smashing about? Well, it’s as tradition that signifies the wait is over, and that the game has been made available to the public for play. You can find out more about the ritual here.
FYI: If you are playing and happen to think to yourself, “damn, this is some depressing music. I wonder who wrote it?” You can thank Martin O’ Donnell for coming up with the “somber, more visceral” score.
Now that the countdown is over, have you gotten your hands on a copy of Halo “Reach” yet? Feel free to leave your review in the comment section.
