Google Tablet Reportedly Launching Nov. 26th on Verizon

Today brings a wealth of information about the rumored iPad rival: the Google Chrome OS tablets will be manufactured by HTC, launched on Verizon, and for sales on November 26 to go, according to the Download Squad. Black Friday.
The rumor comes from an anonymous source, but it also means that given what we had previously heard and know. It’s been rumors that Google and HTC are working together on tablet hardware since January, and clearly Google and Verizon have been terribly nice too late. And launching a major new product on Black Friday the busiest shopping day of the year would generate too much attention and, more importantly, hands-on time if they ultimately sell in brick and mortars.
Squad download is also a number of “likely” specs, and it is not clear whether that is the source or just pure speculation. But let us hope for the former: Chrome OS, Tegra 2 graphics, a multitouch display 1280×720, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD, WiFi/Bluetooth/3G connectivity, and webcam are all mentioned as possibilities.
Until now, we will take with a grain of salt. We do not know how far the source is removed from the companies involved, and nothing here is from some “educated guess” territory would be. Yet it is gone iPad a long time without any real competition if the rumor holds up, this should make for a great holiday statement.
