Commonwealth Games 2010 Badminton Singapore Victory

Bronze Medal day in Delhi had local interest as well as a rematch from the 2006 games, as an all-Indian Mens singles match topped the bill for the locals. Chetan Anand was the higher of the seeds, but it was fellow Indian Kashrup Parupalli who took bronze in the mens singles, with a 21-15, 21-18 victory in 39 minutes.

The women’s singles, was a rematch of the 2006 bronze medal match from Melbourne. However the result in 2010 was a reversal of four years previously as Liz Cann of England defeated Susan Egelstaff of Scotland in two games, with the Scot leading in both games but it unable to take a off Cann, who ended up winning 21-18, 21-16 in 36 minutes.

There was a guaranteed bronze in the men’s doubles for Singapore, as Sauptra and Wijaya defeated team-mates Triyachart and Wong in two games, winning 23-21, 21-12 in 29 minutes. Chayut Triyachart however, did come away with a bronze medal from the mixed doubles as him and partner Lei Yao defeated Malaysia’s Chan and Goh in a 51 minute, three game match which they won 21-14, 17-21, 21-17.

The fifth medal of the day went to Australia as He Tian Tang and Kate Wilson-Smith defeated England’s Gabrielle White and Jenny Wallwork in the women’s doubles bronze medal match. The longest match of the day was won by the Australians 21-23, 21-12, 21-16 in 64 minutes. However, Wallwork has already won at least silver in the mixed doubles when she takes to the court tomorrow.

Antm Cycle 15 Episode 6 Complete Review

Previously on America’s Next Top Model, Ann made ANTM history by getting top photo for a fourth straight time. The Girl With The Littlest Waist has stolen Tyrant’s heart almost as much as Lisbeth Salander has taken over Sweden. I didn’t think she actually deserved the win, but you know Tyrant! All about storylines, not so much about credibility. Kayla should’ve won that round. Maybe Tyrant just doesn’t like lesbians. Just kidding! No hate mail. Gawd. Relax. Can Ann do it again? Will one of the other girls rise to her level? Will Tyrant say something stupid? Duh. Who will be eliminated tonight?

We begin this week with the wannabes driving back to the house. Someone comments that Ann is the last of the “quirkies”. Hmmm… interesting. I hadn’t thought of the eliminations that way. I guess slutty doesn’t count as quirky. I’m looking at you Kacey! Then Ann gets a little teary in a confessional. Awww. Cute. She’s really proud of her achievement and feels like she’s actually pretty and not just the gangly one in the back of the class. I know how you feel girl. I know how you feel. It wasn’t until my own model breakthrough that I truly accepted my hotness. It was tough. I got through it though.

That night, the girls all received CoverGirl packs and got split into groups. Gotta love CoverGirl. It takes a whole minute to spell out a product name. SmokeyEyeLookKitsAndLastingColourHighShineDuoPacks. Riiiiight. Team 1 is Ann, Kendal, and Jane. Team 2 is Kacey, Kayla, and Ester. Team 3 is Chelsey, Liz, and Chris. The teams meet Nigel at WalMart (so classy) to show the public what it means to be a CoverGirl. Did anyone else notice how bad Nigel’s recorded voiceover was? Terrible. God thing he’s still hot after all these years.

Fashion journalist Derek Blasberg secretly observed the girls’ presentations and delivered the feedback. The public also got to have their say. Ann was too quiet and uncomfortable. Kayla and Kacey got some good feedback. Chris was overpowering. Chelsey was run over by Chris. Ultimately, Ann got the LOWEST score. Kacey got the HIGHEST score and Team 2 won it all.

The next morning, the girls meet Mr. Jay on Rodeo Drive for “one of the most prestigious photo shoots in Top Model history.” Should be interesting. Beloved fashion stylist Lori Goldstein is on hand to work with famed photographer Patrick DeMarchelier. That’s actually pretty amazing. The girls will be working in pairs with a male model doing some hot group walking down the street. I love it. Chelsey is really nervous about getting paired up with Ann.
Jane & Kacey

Kacey actually had really nice things to say about Jane. She thinks Miss Big Jaw is gorgeous. I agree. Kacey to me seems more commercial than high fashion. Mr. Jay thought she fell flat this week. Patrick actually thought Jane was too commercial. But his concerns do not match this photo. She looks STUNNING. ALT is enthralled and calls her a French supermodel. Kacey just looks pissed.
Jane

Superb. ALT and Nigel agree on this one. I love it. I knew she had it in her. I’ve been rooting for her all Cycle and I’m glad she found her stride. Punny!
Kacey

Her body language is good. It looks natural, but you wouldn’t even know it’s her because she didn’t connect her face to the camera at all.
Chelsey & Ann

Chelsey was nervous about posing with Ann and it seemed to show. She was really intimidated by Patrick. Mr. Jay said Ann looked tight on set. She was really awkward with her skipping too. Nigel actually thinks this is the best overall group photo because they work as a team. I actually think Chelsey edged out Ann a bit on this one. The hair and the gap tooth with the eye contact… love. Ann’s nostrils look a little odd.
Chelsey

I really like her body in this shot and the judges agree. She lost a bit of control in her face though. Overall… a better week for Chelsey. I also like that they didn’t cover up her freckles this week.
Ann

I’ll just let ALT do the talking… “BEEEYOND. Beyond EVERYTHING ever!” Well… it’s good, her face is AMAZING, but the body is still a little too awkward for this style of shoot.
Esther & Kayla

Kayla was really struggling with keeping pretty face because her shoes were too small and her feet were in a lot of pain. Patrick seemed to like Esther. They both took very different approaches to this photo. Esther is engaging the scene and Kayla is going for the camera. I think they both look pretty, but Esther did a better job of making it work.
Esther

ALT thinks it is a great fashion picture because there is a lot of stuff being sold. I think she did a good job but the boots make her look oddly proportioned.
Kayla

Nigel thought it was awkward. ALT thought it worked. Not her best work, but she should be safe.
Kendal & Liz

Kendal was loving this photo shoot. She loved the attention and Mr. Jay said she was given SJPSATC vibes. He was worried about Liz though who seemed to disappear. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that she was styled like a little BOY! But as far as the photo goes I think Liz actually looks better than Kendal. Her faux fur thing just isn’t working with the palm trees and sunshine. They both look pretty, but I’m not wowed.
Kendal

This is a great shot. Her ass looks a little big in that outfit, but the movement is great. ALT thought it was FABulous. Patrick appreciated that her face was in control.
Liz

Nigel didn’t like this one at all and I have to agree. There is nothing authentic about this photo. It is way too posed, stiff, and blah. Next!
Chris

Mr. Jay and the gang thought she was really grounded and realistic in the scene. She had some pretty wicked shoes on too. Tyrant liked her shot with the male model, but ALT didn’t feel the zing. I think it’s too sweet.
Chris

Her individual shot was just average for me. The judges were pretty blah on it too.

Hidden Street Is Street Art dead

Is Street Art dead? Is it too early to mourn? Too late to cry? Peep the commentary from High Snobiety below.

The good folks at SuperTouch weren’t too far off when they mentioned the lack of dynamism over at ArtNews. It is, for lack of better phrasing, the old guard of contemporary art. However, and perhaps for the best (worst?), they’ve come around to the Street Art Movement. “Street Art Gets Hot!” reads November’s cover. Yes, we already knew that. Yes, the proclimation from this publication is like a nail in the coffin of hip and cool.

Negativity aside, the keynote article by Caroline Miranda, A Two Way Street, properly and succenctly presents the core issues surrounding Street Art and its progression within the mainstream art world. For those interested in the constant debates over definition and the arguments over mass market presentation of artists like Swoon, Miranda’s essay is a worthy read. And, surely, like us you’ll see some merit in a piece that is not without fault. (And, there are no excuses to miss it, it’s free online).
