At a church service Sunday Bishop Eddie Long stated that he was “not going to be pulled into a street fight”.
Long said he had no hate for anyone, then asked his congregation to turn to the book of Job, reading a passage which states “Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked will be no more.”
According to the Associated Press, Bishop Long told the thousands of parishioners at his church, “In times of challenge, there are several things that come out, your faith will be strengthened or weakened. My faith is being strengthened.”
Four young men have alleged in a civil suit that Long coerced them into sexual acts by rewarding them with trips, cash, cars, and other monetary gifts.
Long made no reference to the allegations in his sermon on Sunday, but did he had no hatred for those who have attacked him.
Atlanta’s gay community had tough questions about Bishop Eddie Long and the sexual coercion lawsuits filed against him. “Why would anyone spend so much time and energy fighting gays? Why is it so important to them?” asked Philip Rafshoon, owner of Outwrite Bookstore, which caters to the gay community.
“Perhaps they have something they’re trying to hide.” Bishop Long led an anti-gay marriage march in 2004 in Atlanta.
Long continues to receive support from the majority of his parishioners. Long’s more than four hour-long sermon was attended by thousands, who gave resounding applause in approval to his words throughout his sermon.
The parishioners had to deal traffic that went for miles through Atlanta after the service concluded. In his sermon Long mentioned one woman who told him he must be the “most prayed for person in the world.” The woman than reminded Long to pray for himself.

Michael Vick’s injury during a play that was ultimately penalized and had to be re-played, is suspected to be a hairline collarbone fracture. Fanhouse reports that his X-Rays were negative, but an MRI is scheduled for Monday because he continues to experience pain.

“He’s got a sore chest is what I can tell you right now,” Eagles coach Andy Reid said, however Adam Schefter of ESPN posted the hairline collarbone fracture suspicion on his Twitter page this afternoon.

Vick was immediately replaced in the game by Kevin Kolb, who is actually the starting quarterback for the Eagles, but had gotten a concussion in the first game of the season. Vick had taken over starting for him and was doing a fantastic job, having earned the NFC offensive player of the month award.

A collarbone fracture — hairline or not — would put the talented Vick on the disabled list for at least two weeks, and maybe three. Hopefully it’s nothing more than a bruise.

If Murphy starts as anticipated, he makes for a top-notch start against a Texans defense that has given up a whopping 368.7 passing yards per game and six touchdowns through the air. Oakland QB Bruce Gradkowski has targeted the team’s best wideout often since being thrust into the starting role.
Louis Murphy, who has been one of the hottest wide receivers in the league over the last two weeks, is active and will start for the Raiders. He’s a solid option against the Texans, who field one of the league’s worst pass defenses.

Today was just about peak conditions for the 11,000 runners in the race which looked even more scenic in the sunshine.

The men’s division of the marathon was won in 2 hours 14 minutes and 2 seconds by Sergio Reyes of Palmdale, California who ran a new personal best time. In second place came Jeffrey Eggleston of New York in 2 hours 14 minutes and 9 seconds while third place went to Fernando Cabada of Longmont, CO, in 2 hours 15 minutes and 25 seconds, according to Kimberly Bogin over on examiner.com.
In the women’s race the winner was Deba Buzunesh of Ethiopia with a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and 24 seconds followed by Svetlana Ponomarenko of Russia in 2 hours 35 minutes and 23 seconds. In third place was Serkalem Abrha of Ethiopia with a time of 2 hours 36 minutes and 16 seconds. According to an Associated Press report on usatoday.com the top finishers from Minnesota were Donovan Fellows who finished ninth in the men’s race and Nichole Porath who came in 20th position in the women’s race.
