Beatrice Capra, NEW YORK – (AFP) Top seed Caroline Wozniacki powered his way to the third round of U.S. Open on Thursday, handing out a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash with Taiwan Kai-Chen Chang.

Also through 2004 was champion Svetlana Kuznetsova, who breezed through the past Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia 6-2, 6-3 and fourth seed Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, who beat Croatia’s Mirjana Lucic 6-4, 3 -6, 6-2

There was an upset in the Grandstand Court, although, as 18-year-old American wildcard Beatrice Capra ousted French 18th seed Aravane Rezai 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.

Capra is making his debut in a WTA Tour tournament, and was the youngest player left in the female and also the lowest ranking in the 371.

“A year ago I was playing the youngest here. I’ve been playing mostly junior tournaments throughout the year and concentrate on that. I played a couple of events for and a good circuit, but it’s been mostly young, said.

In action at the meeting Thursday night crowd-pleaser is Sharapova, who will Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic with the winner taking Capra for a place in the fourth round.

The elite tennis player Maria Sharapova got over a great opponent and a score deficit to overcome a big loss in the first round of the U.S. Open.
